| Respite |
|
Respite helps families and individuals caring for a person with a developmental disability. Respite is temporary, short-term relief for caregiver(s). Substitute support can be arranged for a family member with a disability and is provided by workers selected by the caregivers. Caregivers may choose to receive respite supports in their own homes or choose out of home respite in one of the two respite apartments maintained by Community Living Renfrew County South. For individuals requiring accessibility, the respite apartment in Arnprior is fully accessible and is equipped with the aids to make the individual's stay a comfortable one. Reasons for respite support are never questioned – a family crisis, a vacation, a need to care for another family member, or just time alone. Respite may be as brief as a few hours or may extend to a week and is determined by the caregiver. |
